New skaters in this age group enroll in Aerodrome Learn to Skate Program at the Basic I level. Skaters will learn the basics of skating which include skating forwards & backwards, gliding, and stopping. The course is usually between 8-10 weeks in length. Skaters will be evaluated on their skills towards the end of the course and USFS record books will be issued. Completed testing forms will be distributed on the last week of classes so that the parents will know in which class to register their skater for the next session. The lead coach may move a student to the next level before the end of the semester if it is apparent that he/she has mastered all the skills in their current grade. There are a total of eight learn to Skate basic skills levels to master. Once a skater has completed level 8, he or she will be able to enroll in the learn to Skate Freeskate Class or even consider the Junior Blades Team which is Aerodromes Competitive preparation track .
